An attractive young wine of a delicate gold colour with a touch of spritz. The bouquet brims with light elderflower, citrus and honeyed tropical fruits and is supported with a well balanced and satisfying middle palate. The gentle acidity and good fruit flavours, particularly grapefruit, help to provide a sustained length and finish.
The 2013 vintage is a classic Bacchus with floral and citrus aromas that regular followers will recognise straight away. Very popular with local fish restaurants including the Butley Orford Oysterage, Waterfront Cafe (Woodbridge) and the Bure River Cottage on the Norfolk Broads.
Shawsgate has received over 30 international, national and local awards for its Bacchus wines over the last twenty years. As a young wine we hope to enter competitions in 2013. The 2009 vintage won Bronze at the 2011 International Wine and Spirit Competition but has now sold out.
